We’re back with another episode of the Hello Alberni Podcast.

subscribe-via-itunesAfter a very successful “An Evening Out” with Dennis Olsen at The Capitol Theatre on February 2, a donation total of $1,231.75 was raised and given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

In this episode, you’ll hear from Sara Mazzei of the Foundation about what their group does, and you’ll hear Dennis Olsen explain why he chose Heart and Stroke as his charity.

Dennis Olsen Reflects

We’ve got a special treat for you this weekend – it’s Part 1 of our Dennis Olsen chat that was held February 2, 2013 at The Capitol Theatre.

subscribe-via-itunesIn this podcast, we speak with Dennis about how he got started in music and discovered his passion for playing guitar. It’s a fascinating journey, including some world travels.

Musically, the audience enjoyed Dennis’ classical guitar stylings, many of which you’ll hear in this podcast.

Thanks go out to my co-host for “An Evening Out”, Denis Levasseur. Our technical team included Ken Wiegand on sound operations and Nathan Satterlee in the booth running the lights for the show. Paul Blondahl took the great photos you see here.

Partial proceeds from this event will benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada – by the time Part 2 of “An Evening Out” is posted, we’ll have the final donation amount to share with you.

“Reefer Madness” is recommended for adult audiences only, and tickets can be purchased online through Portal Players’ website at Port Alberni ticket outlets include Rollin Art Centre and the Capitol Theatre box office during regular hours. Advance tickets are $20 each; at the door on show nights, they are $25 each.

On a programming note, coming soon on future Hello Alberni podcast episodes: additional excerpts from “An Evening Out” with Dennis Olsen, and a feature look at Pot Luck Ceramics and their unique Fundraising Coop venture.

This week we’re pleased to offer three interviews in a Business Themed podcast.

First, we chatted with Gayle Stephen-Player, the owner/manager of Gayle’s Fashions. Gayle is also the chair of the Uptown Merchants Association.

Also, we spoke with Neil Malbon, President and Teresa Bird, Vice-President of the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce for a 2013 update.

We also snuck in a quick shout out to the Rotary Arts District.
